Wal-Mart, which last spring expressed interest in locating a store in Belfast, told the city and VillageSoup in recent weeks it is not ready to announce specific plans for locating here.
This week, Wal-Mart spokesman Philip Serghini told VillageSoup, "We are still interested in building a store in Belfast, but we have no specific, announced projects there."
Serghini's words this week were almost exactly what he wrote to City Manager Joe Slocum at the end of October after he was asked if the interest expressed in the spring still stood. He told Slocum he had checked with the company's real estate people and had nothing new to report.
