Prichard officials said a number of residents have been signing petitions aimed at showing Wal-Mart executives that a store would be welcome in that city.
Prichard Mayor Ron Davis reported that 1,000 people had signed the petitions since they were posted in public buildings across the city Monday.
But the effort may be for nothing, as Wal-Mart seems to have made a definitive decision against building in Prichard. [...]
