Honeybees needed to pollinate crops are still mysteriously dying at an alarming rate nationwide, but some local beekeepers say the picture is not as grim here.
Kenneth Warchol, a state bee inspector from Northbridge, said he is hearing that area beekeepers lost about one in every three hives this winter.
"You've always had 10 percent losses over the years, that was normal," he said. "But 30 percent is probably fairly good compared to what some beekeepers had last year with the colony collapse disorder." Read More
